In September 2022, an article was published addressing the issues behind the vaquita's population decline and the seriousness it represents in terms of extinction. The article called "The high-stakes quest to save a behemoth, croaking fish" mentions Pesca ABC and its staff as one of the main actors in promoting alternative fishing gear to change the fishing dynamics of the region.
Pesca ABC hosted journalists form the New York Times to include the vision of fishers in this article about vaquita conservation.
In November 2022, Yale Environmental Review published the paper “Saving the Panda of the Sea” which presents a review of the paper “An Economic perspective on Policies to Save Vaquita” of which Pesca ABC General Director is first author.
In June 2022, a French television station went to San Felipe to document the threat to the vaquita in the region and Pesca ABC is mentioned as an agent of change in the search for fishing gear that is an alternative to traditional fishing methods.
During COP 17, the CITES secretariat published a review of the work we do at Pesca ABC in coordination with Museo de la Ballena, so that fishing and conservation are activities that go hand in hand.
